I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue
Well it’s been another small gap between posts and Cat has been asking for a holiday post since I came back from Sweden. While I’m not going to quite that far I will at least mention what I got up to. However just briefly and hence the blog title I want to mention the course I just went on which was a foundation course in ITIL v3. In my last job ITIL was a very big part of how they operated. All of the permanent staff went on the ITIL foundation course but even though I didn’t as contractor a lot of the processes and the way things should be done rubbed off on me. Fast forward to my current job and, in the many 1-2-1s I’ve had, I have raised points or things that my boss identified as very ITIL things. So it was suggested that I went on the foundation course, get the qualification (I’ll find out in a week or so if I passed, don’t get me started on the irony of a framework based on using technology to improve things having a paper exam) and then work on introducing my workplace to ITIL. It was a very interesting 3 days and I’ve learned a lot as well as firming up things I already knew. Where things will go from here I don’t know but it’ll be interesting I’m sure.
As for Sweden I really enjoyed my stay and a lot of it had to do with the fact I was staying with friends which made it easier and much more of a personal holiday. During my time there I visited the 2nd largest Ikea in Uppsala, the Palace in Stockholm and O’Connor’s pub in Uppsala where I had the most expensive drink I’m ever likely to have a £12 whisky. No it wasn’t a vintage it was a very nice Ardberg however what I failed to notice, or understand, that the price in the menu was per cl as opposed to serving. So initially I though 30Kr wasn’t too bad but got nervous when the barman asked me how many cls I wanted. Less to say I was grateful that I was prudent with my holiday money and had plenty spare! As for pictures, for those who are friends with me on Facebook they’re up but otherwise I’ll be picking out some arty shots I took to put on my photography site.
