Slowly But Surely
So according to my countdown clock there’s 26 days until our flights to Australia. This means we’re, as the title intimates, slowly but surely working our way through the list of stuff to do before we leave. The one thing I was prepared for but still surprised by was just how many things we’ve needed to cancel or change. There’s been a couple of occasions where one of us has remembered something and gone “man, I hadn’t even thought of that!” I’m quite glad we’ve still got a few weeks before we move as it gives us more time to remember other little things I keep worrying that we’ve forgotten.
We’ve also been visiting friends and family and still have a few more visits planned for this month before our goodbye get-together on the day our flights leave. Many people have asked me whether I’m excited yet and I honestly, right now, no. I think I’m still very much in a ‘getting things sorted’ mode and as such haven’t really let myself relax and take it all in. I’m pretty sure that I’ll get a bit more excited after my last working day (3rd Feb) and even more so on the 11th when everything’s done & dusted and all that’s left to do is board a plane. Between now and then there’s still lots to do, lots to sort, jobs to apply for, possibly interviews & a whole bunch of stuff I probably haven’t even considered. I’m really glad that the moving company is packing the house as I really wouldn’t enjoy doing that in the final run-up to our move.
