I’m sitting here on a Thursday evening watching a rather exciting game of one day cricket between Sri Lanka and Australia. It’s the final of the Commonwealth Bank Series and this is the final game of three to decide who wins the overall competition. It’s all level so this game is the one and the winner takes all. The nice thing about it all is that pretty much everything that’s needed to be done for us to be settled here is done. Admittedly there’s still two rather big things that need to be ticked off (a job for me and the rest of our stuff arriving) but aside from those we’re all sorted.
We have a car, we’ve got a long-term rental on a lovely house in the suburb of Isaacs. Internet is due to be turned on next week and all the admin things like Medicare etc were all done in the first week of us being here. There’s also some movement on the job front which is great and hopefully that, rather large cloud, will be lifted and we can crack on and just be waiting on our things to arrive. One thing’s for sure that, despite some bumps, we’re both loving Canberra and can’t wait to explore the region and climb the many, many glorious hills that surround and make up the city. It’s one thing that didn’t quite strike me until we were actually here but there are points where you look across what seems to be just trees but you know for sure there’s one or two suburbs in there somewhere. The lakes are gorgeous and there’s so much open space it’s silly; but we love it!
