A Whole Year On
So last week, Valentine’s day to be precise, Cat and I silently celebrated the fact that we’ve been living in Canberra for exactly a year. I still clearly remember coming over the hill and seeing this vast green city laid out before me and thinking ‘I’m going to be living somewhere in there.’ I’ll be honest and say that at times it felt like time was moving so slowly that clearly someone had slowed down Earth’s rotation but, as usual when one is be retrospective, it seems that year has flown by. As mention in other posts it’s been a year of drastic changes not only personally but also in circumstance because later on this month we’ll have been living in our own home for two months and that feels as awesome.
There’s still some way to go before this house will feel like ours as well as settling in to the local area. I’m looking forward to catching up with the people who will be visiting us this year as well as trying to plan a visit home which will hopefully be sometime next year depending on how things pan out. I guess now I am trying to look forward more than backward because as time moves on I’m starting to realise just how important doing so is; it’s also not easy. I’ve got plenty of things to be thinking about at the moment and there still could be change ahead but I’m hopeful that, whatever those changes are, they’re being made because I want the best for us here in Australia as opposed to what I should be doing. It sounds odd I know but honestly it makes perfect sense!
