Clouding Over Somewhat Later On
One of the most interesting, I think, things I’ve discovered about Canberra is not only how changeable its weather is but also how you can have rain where you are and sunshine just a few k’s up the road. A recent example was at a football training session I was at last Tuesday. We had thunderstorms, the loudest thunder I’ve ever heard and torrential rain on the fields we were training on but, off to our right was glorious sunshine. Not only was this a little odd it also meant we had a double rainbow to stare at whilst we got absolutely drenched. Adding to the intrigue of the evenings weather was the conversation I had with a colleague the next day. I exclaimed about how loud the thunder was however he advised he’d heard no thunder that evening but did have a bit of rain.
This isn’t the only example of course. Over the last year I’ve noticed several times instances where I’ve been somewhere dry and heard from Cat later in the day that it was raining where she was and so on. I guess after living somewhere where when the weather takes hold it stays there and everyone experiences to somewhere where you almost have micro-climates it takes a bit of getting used to. Still at least it keeps things interesting and, even though I may see rain in the distance, doesn’t always mean it’s going to land on us!
