A Merry Little Christmas
My how time flies and we realised this even more when last night we worked out that Chloë will turn 1 in five weeks time! Before that, however, she experienced her first Christmas which was such fun. I don’t think she quite grasped the concept of unwrapping presents (though I’m sure that’ll change by next year) but she gave some awesome faces when a new toy was presented. A couple of them have quickly become favourites and watching her bop along to the ones that play music is very, very cute. I’m sure the novelty will start to wear off when we’ve heard the same sounds several hundred times but for now it never fails to bring smiles to our faces.
For Christmas Day we had a lovely little barbecue on the shores of Lake Tuggeranong which was followed up by another at our house with a friend joining us. This very kind person helped me move our barbecue from its old location near our shed to the back deck which will hopefully mean we’ll use it more than we have done which, over the past year, has been hasn’t been often. Boxing day saw us doing something for ourselves. I took off for a long bike ride in the morning which I thoroughly enjoyed even if I did push myself up two of the biggest hills in Canberra. The day was perfect for it with bright sunshine but at a sensible temperature. I did, however, forget to apply sunscreen but mercifully I didn’t get too sunburnt! In the afternoon after Chloë went down for her nap Cat went to the mall to do some shopping and just enjoy a couple of hours to herself. Fortunately for me Chloë decided to sleep the entire time only waking after Cat had returned home leaving me to enjoy the cricket whilst playing Football Manager; a classic combination.
All-in-all it’s been a really nice Christmas, quiet, but nice. We manage to Skype most of our family over the last four days and whilst it would’ve been lovely to spend Christmas with all our family together to be able to Skype them and for Chloë to see them at Christmas was a good substitute. Hopefully, one year soon, we’ll be able to have that big family Christmas but until then, another one like this would be fine by me.
