Long Time No See!
It says something when WordPress automatically sets the link for this post and it has a ‘2’ on the end of it. This isn’t the first time and most certainly won’t be the last time I take forever to update my blog. That being said it’s not like I’ve not been busy and, in all honesty, one of the mains reasons I’ve hardly blogged here is I’ve been rather busy reviewing games! With thanks to the two awesome websites that have said yes to publishing my gaming related drivel when I’ve not been working or parenting I’ve often been playing and reviewing and that, unsurprisingly takes up what little free time I have. It’s been amazing really and part of me is hoping that, at some point in the future, it can be more than just a hobby.
Beyond that Lucy is growing up fast! She’s crawling like a champion and happily standing up on her own, even stairs have been conquered. She’s still a very smiley child and now that she recognises both mum and me her face lights up and the reactions are priceless. Daycare pickups are fun mainly because Chloë sprints for a hug and Lucy crawls at top speed to come and get hugs at the door, it’s a rather heart-warming thing to experience each day and makes such a difference at the end of a work day. Chloë has taken a liking to both Frozen and Cars with both often featuring in her imaginary play. It’s quite funny and has led to such experiences as hearing her feet (she has Frozen shoes) argue as to who would sing what song to Cat having to create a verse in row, row, row your boat to feature Lightning McQueen. Lucy hasn’t attached to anything specific yet but does like music and sounds as well as trying to stand up against anything she can reach.
Outside of family life the football season is almost over for me. I coach two men’s teams and the women’s masters. The former’s season didn’t really go too well but it was a learning experience I am grateful for. The women’s team have made the finals and we have our semi-final this Sunday so that’ll be interesting and I’m hoping, of course, for a positive result. We went to the UK at the end of July for two weddings and a family catch-up. On the way there we spent a few days in Singapore which were lovely and a day/night in Abu Dhabi on the way back. It was there I drove a single-seater around the south circuit of Yas Marina which is easily one of the most awesome things I’ve done in recent times (outside of becoming a dad of course!). Cat and I also passed 10 years of marriage which, while celebrated with little fanfare, is rather awesome and I look very much forward to the years ahead.
There’s probably heaps I’m missing out and little adventures and things that have happened but I’d say I’ve covered the main points. Hopefully I’ll get back into blogging a touch more often but I make no promises as ever. Wherever you are I hope you’re having a great day and if you’re not, there’s always tomorrow!
