This past week has been rather interesting. Monday I had the day off work as I had my appointment at the Bristol Royal Infirmary to have another x-ray and follow up on my hand. Since I would have to get there early and what have you I took the day off work so to get as much done as possibly I has booked my car in for its 3 year service. The car was services quite quickly and the only thing they came back with is that my brake fluid is a little dirty and will need a change when it’s in for its next service. They also cleaned and valeted the car which was nice. The hospital visit was a lot shorter than I anticipated. It was at 1:30pm and the whole thing was sorted and done before 3pm. The specialist, after examining my x-ray, prodding and asking a few questions thinks that what I’ve done is moved or stretched the ligament on my 4th knuckle from its anchor point. From that I will be going back in for an MRI on my hand to get a better look and if it is what he thinks I’ll have an injection, right into it of steroids, joy!
After that the rest of the week was pretty much average although unfortunately 5-a-side on Monday and Tuesday was cancelled. Come Friday and well, getting home was quite an experience. It had snowed and rained pretty much all day and this wreaked havoc on the roads. I took the country way back to cut off having to go round Yate and had to slowly drive my car through a part which was completely flooded (coming up over my headlights a couple times). Then I missed the turn I wanted to take as I had been told Winterbourne was hell and ended up one the A38. This wasn’t too bad and only queued where I expect, Almondsbury. Got past this and thought I was home free, oh how wrong I was! Got as far as Pizza Hut’s round-a-bout and from there, two (or three depending one what route you want to do) round-a-bouts from my house queued for the next hour and a quarter. So to summarise, I left work at 4:45pm and got home at 6:50pm; normally I get back at 5:15pm so I was spectacularly late. Still it was an adventure I suppose and gave a talking point for the evening. I had never seen Bradley Stoke this backed up before and it was blocked in both directions.
So to today then and really the only talking point is United’s 6-0 demolition of Newcastle. By all accounts it was a good game once the second half started. It was nice to see us play with some purpose which is what we lacked in the first half and it was also good to see Ronaldo get is first hat-trick for the club. Didn’t do much good for my fantasy team but there you go, can’t have everything. I’ll also be watching the NFL playoffs tonight but unfortunately Pittsburgh isn’t it after losing last week to the Jaguars in the Wild Card match. However I’m looking forward just to watching it and hopefully I’ll see two good games tonight. Tomorrow I’ll be off to see Cirque Du Soleil in London which I’m really looking forward to as I have always wanted to see them live since I caught them on the television once.
Something else also happened today and that was Cati got her exam results back for her ballet. Less to say it wasn’t the result we wanted. It’s a shame as well considering all the effort she’s put in, the hours and so on and I really hoped that she would pass. Although it doesn’t mean the same she passed in my eyes and on more than just marks.
