Five Years On
Last Friday, the 8th, marked the wife’s and I fifth wedding anniversary. We celebrated on the Saturday by having a lovely picnic at Blaise Castle followed by an evening party at Bradley Stoke Cricket Club. We really lucked out with the weather as, for the past week, it seemed like monsoon season in Bristol. Instead we had glorious sunshine and blue skies and, although a wee bit windy, it was perfect picnicking weather. The evening was lovely too as many of our friends came to the club to celebrate with us along with the members of the cricket club; all-in-all it was a great way to celebrate 5 years of marriage.
It was interesting to reflect on the last 10 years we’ve been together and thinking of all the things we’ve been up to but then to also look to the future and realise that not only have the both of us changed quite a bit but that there’s still a lot of change to come. The biggest, of course, being our desire to move to Australia. It will be a huge change for the both of us and while we know we’ll have lots of help and support it’s quite something to be doing. We’re also hoping to start a family in the near future, most likely after we’re settled in Oz and there’s all the other things that you just don’t plan for. Sometimes I wonder if any of the things I think of now would have ever popped in to my head and came to the conclusion that they probably didn’t. I’m proud of how much I’ve/we’ve grown in the time we’ve been together and I’m very much looking forward to what our future will hold as it’s all very exciting. Oh and don’t believe what your friends tell you, marriage rocks!
