Into A New Year
So 2016 has started and, well, it’s not been the best of starts. Not content with having a broken toe to end 2015 I decided the New Year required a new break. To that end I broke my hand, just above the little finger to be exact. Mercifully it’s not on the knuckle but there’s rotation and it’s another bone to heal. I’ve also got to decide whether or not I want to try to do something to fix the rotation. Right now the finger moves in but on making a fist it sorta straightens out. Given the cost of healthcare here it’s a tough decision. I’d probably leave it had it been on my left hand. However as it’s my right and therefore dominant hand it is a tougher decision to make. Either way it’s giving us something extra to ponder.
The Nights Ahead
On the upsides however Chloë’s bedtime and sleep has gotten better since we started extending her intro to bedtime. Leaving both our and her bedroom door open once we’ve gone to bed has helped too. She’s come through every night so far. Varying from 3am to 6am but the bonus is that each time she’s gone back to sleep either in our bed or her own.
Hopefully, in time, she’ll be secure enough in the knowledge of where we are. If so, she’ll hopefully start sleeping through again. I don’t mind how long this takes as the current status quo is doable without adversely affecting everyone. Daytimes are becoming better now most of us are getting more sleep. Lucy is still struggling at times and Cat is being fantastic on that front. We’re equally hoping that once we’ve had her tongue tie looked at things might improve there too.
Overall though it’s starting to look like we’re heading in a good direction and if I’m honest I’d rather get all the grief and issues done with at the start of the year and focus on having a great 2016 for the rest of it.
We’re Growing Old!
Otherwise things are fairly routine with nothing massively new to report. Chloë turns 2 in under a month which is, well, it went fast. Heck Lucy is already a month old! We’ve got a party planned at one of the outdoor play spaces here in Canberra and hopefully the weather will be good. Her main present has already been decided on, just a case of going out and getting it and then keeping it hidden until the big day.
I honestly can’t wait to see her face! It should be a fun day and hopefully everyone will enjoy themselves. Turning two is a bigger deal than her first birthday in many ways but for her it’ll be one she’ll be more involved in and, like this past Christmas, she’s more aware of what a birthday is having had mine and Cat’s in the past few months. She’s definitely getting more forthright in her views and what she wants and doesn’t want so it’ll be fun to see how she goes when it’s her big day. I have a feeling there will be lots of ordering around and being told where to sit and what to do; its gonna be fun!
